Drug Science was established in 2018 by Professor David Nutt, the former chair of the UK's Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. The organisation is dedicated to providing independent scientific evidence on drugs, including cannabis, to inform policy and clinical practice.
Drug Science is best known in the medical cannabis space for founding Project Twenty21 (T21), a landmark real-world evidence programme that enrolled thousands of patients across the UK to gather data on the outcomes of medical cannabis treatment. T21 is one of the most significant medical cannabis research programmes in Europe.
Drug Science does not manufacture cannabis products, but plays a critical role in the UK medical cannabis ecosystem by generating and disseminating evidence that supports clinicians, patients and policymakers.
