Releaf Clinic Launches Specialist PTSD Programme for Veterans
Releaf Clinic has partnered with veteran support organisations to offer subsidised medical cannabis consultations for ex-military personnel with PTSD.
Releaf Clinic has launched a dedicated programme offering subsidised medical cannabis consultations for UK veterans suffering from PTSD and related trauma conditions. The programme, developed in partnership with charity Combat Stress and the Veterans' Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, provides initial consultations at a reduced rate of 75 GBP for eligible ex-service personnel.
PTSD rates among UK veterans are estimated at 4-6% - significantly higher than the general population - and many veterans describe dissatisfaction with conventional treatments including SSRIs and talking therapies. Medical cannabis, particularly THC-dominant products, has shown benefit for PTSD-related nightmares, hyperarousal, and sleep disturbance in several clinical trials.
The programme will include a veteran-specific intake form and initial assessment designed to account for the particular traumas and treatment histories common among ex-military patients. Continued prescriptions, once initiated, are managed through Releaf's standard platform.
"Veterans have given a great deal to this country. They deserve access to every evidence-based treatment available," said Releaf co-founder Dr. Mark Sherrat. "For some of our veteran patients, cannabis therapy has made the difference between surviving and thriving."
Applications are open via Releaf's website. Priority is given to veterans currently waiting for NHS mental health services.
